Natural Factors has made the decision to discontinue the sale of shark cartilage products in support of the marine ecosystem.
Over the last several years, we have been reviewing the ecological impact of using shark cartilage as a nutritional supplement more closely. We have learned that since sharks are a top predator in the oceans, their removal can damage the rest of the marine ecosystem. Furthermore, as these animals are slow to mature, with already small populations, sharks are extremely vulnerable to over fishing and exploitation.
It is for this reason that Natural Factors has made the decision to cease purchasing shark cartilage raw materials and will no longer be producing shark cartilage products. It is our hope that this decision will contribute to the necessary global moratorium required on the harvesting of sharks.
Although shark cartilage supplements have strong consumer support in helping to deal with the pain and debilitating effects of osteoarthritis, we are confident that we can provide our customers with natural, effective products from alternate sources.
