Echinamide Sore Throat Relief Herbal Throat Spray has antibacterial properties of goldenseal root and forsythia; slippery elm, for a soothing demulcent that protects irritated mucous membranes and lubricates a dry mouth and throat; licorice: anti-inflammatory and antitussive. Components in licorice also promotes production of interferon, a natural antiviral compound.

Cloves, myrrh and black cherry are incorporated to freshen breath. Bee propolis is a powerful natural antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal. Many who take propolis regularly report fewer colds, flus, infections along with greater stamina and energy. It can also be useful for sore and inflamed throats.

Echinamide is a patent pending extract of Echinacea purpurea, certified organic echinacea grown in BC's Okanagan Valley at Factor Farms. Echinamide describes a super-extracted Echinacea purpurea liquid that guarantees high levels of alkylamides, polysaccharides and cichoric acid. These actives are in a base of the whole herb, so that none of the minor actives are missing.

Recommended Adult Dose

Spray 2-3 times in mouth for sore throat and gum pain, for lubricating dry mouth and throat and also as a breath freshener or as directed by a health care practitioner. Keep out of the reach of children.

Contraindications

  • Echinacea should not be used by people with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) or human-immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Echinacea use may lead to stimulation of viral replication. Until more research is done, most experts recommend not using echinacea effects in HIV infection.
  • Allergic reactions have been reported in people who are allergic to other members of plants in the Compositae family (daisy, ragweed, marigolds, etc.)
  • Since echinacea can enhance immune function, it must not be used in people who have had organ transplants or who are taking drugs to purposely suppress the immune system like cyclophosphamide.
  • People with autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and multiple sclerosis should avoid long-term use of echinacea.

Additional Information

Children: Suitable for children at one-half the adult dosage.

Pregnancy and Nursing: Although echinacea is considered safe, the other herbs in this formula have not been sufficiently evaluated, so this formula should not be used during these times.

Seniors: No special precautions known.
