The MenoPause Formula is designed to help balance the fluctuating hormone levels that take place several years before, and during, menopause and following hysterectomy. Black cohosh is a herb well-known in Europe for easing hot flashes, night sweats, heart palpitations and vaginal cell thinning. Black cohosh inhibits the release of luteinizing hormone by the pituitary gland, with a positive effect on menopausal symptoms.

Vitex agnus-castus balances luteinizing hormone production and modulates progesterone levels in the body. It also can reduce prolactin levels. This combination of actions helps to restore estrogen/progesterone balance and timing of hormone cycles.

The phytoestrogens in licorice exert a balancing effect on reproductive hormones and stimulate low adrenal function.

Hops have estrogenic properties and are considered a classic nervine, helping with insomnia and anxiety.

Wild Yam contains the well-known phytoestrogen, diosgenin, and has antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and nerve relaxing properties.

Pregnancy

1 capsule, 2 times daily preferably before meals or as directed by a health care practitioner. Keep out of the reach of children.

Contraindications

<UL> <LI>There is some controversy regarding the effect of vitex (chasteberry) on birth control pills. Although theoretical, vitex could interfere with their effectiveness. <LI>At this time, it is best if women on birth control pills consult a health care practitioner if there is a concern.</LI></UL>

Drug Interactions

Children: There does not appear to be any appropriate use for this formulation in children.

Pregnancy and Nursing: This formulation is not to be used in pregnancy and lactation.

Seniors: No special precautions are known.
